Database Administrator

We are looking for a Data Base Administrator to be responsible for assisting the Senior Database Administrator with the designing, maintaining, implementation and optimisation of the Company’s Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005 databases.

The candidate will monitor database usage, performance, security and space usage, taking the necessary actions to prevent or rectify erroneous or threatening situations.
work closely with the Company’s Web developers in order to design data structures as well as grant the necessary permissions to in house applications.
Maintain the high availability structure and disaster recovery setup.
Define good and practical approaches with regard to the database backup strategies adopted by the Company.
Work as part of a team that is responsible for the daily maintenance, infrastructures support and performance tuning.

The Requirements
Experience: The applicant should have at least 5 years of IT professional experience and 3 years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2000/2005.

Education: A first degree in Engineering/Computer or related IT diploma products will be considered an asset.
